Luke 8:17: “For there is nothing hidden that will not be disclosed, and nothing concealed that will not be known or brought out into the open.”
There are times when we encounter situations involving people—including situations such as the one concerning Nolan Wells—where we simply do not know the whole story. Questions may remain unanswered, facts may be unclear, and what we see on the surface may not reveal everything underneath. During those moments, Scripture reminds us that we do not have to force what is hidden into the light. God sees what we cannot see, knows what we do not know, and truth does not remain outside His reach.
Think about walking into a dark room. The furniture was already there before you turned on the light. The light did not create what was in the room—it simply revealed what darkness prevented you from seeing. In the same way, when God allows truth to come to light, He is not creating the truth; He is revealing what was already there.
Luke 8:17 tells us that what is hidden will eventually be disclosed. Ecclesiastes 12:14 adds, “For God will bring every deed into judgment, including every hidden thing, whether it is good or evil.” And 1 Corinthians 4:5 reminds us that the Lord can “bring to light what is hidden in darkness” and expose the motives of the heart.
That means we do not have to become investigators of another person’s heart. We don’t have to spread rumors, make accusations, or reach conclusions before the facts are known. Our responsibility is to walk in truth, exercise discernment, pray for wisdom, and allow God to reveal what needs to be revealed in His timing.
Sometimes what comes to light confirms our concerns. Other times, what comes to light corrects our assumptions. Either way, truth is our friend.
So when you don’t have all the answers, resist the temptation to fill in the blanks yourself. Pray instead: “Lord, reveal what I need to know. Give me wisdom concerning what I can see, discernment concerning what I cannot see, and patience while I wait for truth to become clear.”
Because darkness can conceal something for a season, but it cannot hide anything from God.
What is hidden from us is never hidden from Him.
